Afshin Abdi

Afshin Abdi is a Staff Research Engineer at Qualcomm and a Senior Applied Scientist at Amazon. They possess extensive experience as a machine learning researcher and engineer, specializing in efficient deep learning, LLM, and agentic AI, particularly for personalized assistants and AI agents on edge devices. Previously, Afshin worked as a Graduate Research Assistant at Georgia Institute of Technology, contributing to various projects involving deep learning and model compression from 2014 to 2020. They also served as a Product Developer at Kavosh, focusing on automatic traffic monitoring and computer vision solutions, and led R&D at BeenaVision, developing algorithms for real-time inspection of trains and railways. Afshin has pursued a Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology, alongside degrees in Electrical Engineering from Sharif University of Technology.
