Owlett served as the Deputy Chief of Global Enterprise Mission Assurance at the United States Department of Defense and has held multiple senior roles at Amazon, including Head of Global Risk Management and Head of Global IT Supply Chain Security, Risk, and Resilience. Additional experience includes advisory roles in homeland security at Frederick Community College, a senior consultant position at Deloitte, and teaching cybersecurity and related subjects as an adjunct professor at Mount St. Mary's University.
