Ariel Hafftka is a Senior Applied Scientist at Amazon, a position held since 2020. Previously, they served as a Senior Data Scientist, Manager, and Principal Data Scientist at Capital One from 2016 to 2018. Ariel's research interests include reinforcement learning, deep learning, concurrency and parallelism, algorithms, and software engineering, utilizing a range of technologies such as TensorFlow, Keras, and SQL. They obtained a Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics & Statistics from the University of Maryland, where they also held roles as a Graduate Teaching and Research Assistant from 2010 to 2013. Prior to that, Ariel earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics with Honors from the University of Chicago.
