Dan Scharf

Dan Scharf is the Global Head of Business Affairs at Amazon Studios. Dan has over 20 years of experience in the entertainment industry, specializing in business and legal affairs.

Dan began their career as an in-house counsel at the Screen Actors Guild in 1997. Dan then moved to Fox Television Studios, where they served as Director of Business & Legal Affairs from 1998 to 2001. In 2002, they joined Disney Cable Networks Group as Exec Director of Business Affairs, a position they held for three years before moving to The Jim Henson Company in 2006.

At The Jim Henson Company, Dan served as Head of Business & Legal Affairs and General Counsel for seven years. In this role, they oversaw all business and legal affairs for the company, including the negotiation of development and production deals for film, television, and digital properties. Dan also negotiated the distribution of current and library properties on a worldwide basis, in all media. In addition, Dan led negotiations for all SAG/AFTRA, WGA, DGA, and IASTE guild matters.

Dan joined Amazon in 2013 as Global Head of Business Affairs. In this role, they oversee all legal aspects of Amazon’s business operations globally.

Dan Scharf studied English at Columbia University in the City of New York, and then went on to study law at the University of California, Davis - School of Law.
