DJ Smith

DJ Smith is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in unmanned aerial systems and public safety. Currently serving as the Virginia State Police Unmanned Aerial Systems Program Coordinator, DJ oversees research and implementation of UAS within the department. In addition to this role, DJ is the Deputy Director at DroneResponders Public Safety UAS Alliance, where they volunteer to promote the use of small UAS in global public safety. DJ also held the position of Senior Technical Surveillance Agent with the Virginia State Police until retirement in 2025, and previously served as the President/CEO of the Virginia State Police Association. DJ earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from East Tennessee State University.
