Garrett van Ryzin

Garrett van Ryzin is a seasoned expert in operations research and technology management with significant leadership experience in major companies. Currently serving as VP and Distinguished Scientist at Amazon since August 2020, van Ryzin previously held the role of Distinguished Scientist and Head of Marketplace Labs at Lyft from October 2017 to August 2020. Additionally, Garrett was the Dyson Family Professor of Operations, Technology and Information Management at Cornell Tech and Head of Marketplace Optimization Advanced Development at Uber. His academic career includes a long tenure at Columbia University, where Garrett served as the Paul M. Montrone Professor and chaired the Decision Risk and Operations Department from 2010 to 2015. Van Ryzin's educational foundation includes a Ph.D. in Operations Research and an MS in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, along with a BS in Electrical Engineering from Columbia University.
