James Powderly

James Powderly is a seasoned designer currently serving as a Principal Designer at Amazon's Devices and Services Design Group in the Los Angeles Metropolitan Area. Previously, they held key positions at Magic Leap, where they significantly contributed to the design and development of the Magic Leap One spatial computer, managing multiple teams and overseeing substantial budgets. Powderly has also served as a co-founder of the Graffiti Research Lab, which gained recognition for innovative projects like the EyeWriter. With academic experience as an adjunct and associate professor at institutions such as Parsons School of Design and Hongik University, they have influenced the next generation in design and technology. Powderly holds a Master's degree in Interactive Telecommunication from New York University and a Bachelor's degree in Music Theory and Composition from The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.
