Kai Gao

Kai Gao has a diverse background in robotics and computer science, highlighted by experience as a Research Assistant at the University of Science and Technology of China from September 2017 to June 2019, where a highly efficient non-rigid image registration algorithm was developed. Following this, research and teaching assistant roles were held at Rutgers University–New Brunswick from August 2019 to January 2025, including the implementation of a perception-planning-control pipeline for a robotic arm and the design of algorithms for multi-robot path planning problems. An internship at Siemens in the summer of 2022 focused on object packing problems. Recently, an Applied Scientist II position at Amazon has been held, contributing to robot manipulation research and development, alongside a co-op role in the same field. Education includes a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from the University of Science and Technology of China and a PhD in Robotics-Computer Science from Rutgers University–New Brunswick.
