Matej Cief is an Applied Scientist at Amazon, where they build LLM agents for the company's shopping assistant, Rufus. They completed a PhD thesis on Off-Policy Evaluation and Optimization in Adaptive Systems, supervised by Branislav Kveton and Michal Kompan. Previously, Matej served as a Lead Developer in Bratislava and held various roles, including Machine Learning Engineer at Swiss Re and Full Stack Developer at BBI International. They earned a Master's degree and Bachelor's degree in Information Technology from the Faculty of Informatics and Information Technologies at Slovak University of Technology and are currently pursuing a PhD in Machine Learning at Brno University of Technology.
