Matthew Shapiro

Matthew Shapiro is an Economist at Amazon Japan, where they began their role in 2023. They previously served as an Assistant Professor of Economics at Singapore Management University from 2018 to 2023 and as a Research Analyst at the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis from 2013 to 2016. Matthew has experience in education as an Instructor at the University of Minnesota and in various leadership and financial roles in academic associations. They earned a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities and a B.S.F.S. in International Political Economy, graduating summa cum laude from Georgetown University.
