Matthew Shum is an accomplished economist currently serving as a Professor at the California Institute of Technology since 2008. They previously held the roles of Amazon Scholar and Principal Economist at Amazon from 2021 to 2023. Matthew also taught at The Johns Hopkins University from 2000 to 2008 and at the University of Toronto from 1998 to 2000. They earned a Doctor of Philosophy in Economics from Stanford University and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Columbia University.
