Michael Freed

Michael Freed is an accomplished professional in the fields of artificial intelligence and machine learning, holding significant roles at SRI International as Program Director and Principal Scientist from 2006 to 2018. There, they led various successful DARPA and DoD projects, including the RADAR personal assistant and the Bootstrapped Learning initiative. Prior to SRI, Freed was a Senior Scientist at NASA Ames Research Center (1994 - 2006), where they founded the Ames Cognitive Agents Lab and contributed to projects involving autonomous systems. Currently, they serve as Principal Product Manager at Amazon, focusing on product development in Palo Alto, California. Freed earned a Ph.D. in Artificial Intelligence from Northwestern University after completing a B.S. in Computer and Information Science at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
