Sean Zhou

Sean Zhou, Ph.D., is an experienced software development engineer with a strong background in both commercial and research settings. At Amazon, from September 2018 to April 2021, Sean contributed to the Amazon Advertising team by leading the architecture and development of a cloud-native large-scale clean room service, and also worked on the Kindle team implementing a distributed data reconciliation system. In the AWS network team, Sean designed an end-to-end machine learning pipeline for forecasting network failures. Since April 2021, Sean has served as a Senior Software Development Engineer at Amazon. Prior to Amazon, Sean was a Research Scientist at Tech-X Corporation from July 2008 to December 2016, where Sean acted as the Principal Investigator on two US Department of Energy projects focused on high performance computing and published multiple scientific papers on innovative numerical algorithms. Sean holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Zhejiang University, a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Plasma Physics from the University of Rochester.
