Sergei Kulaev is currently a Principal Economist at Amazon, where they lead product and policy evaluation through experimentation and causal studies. Previously, they held the same title at Amazon, focusing on economic development and competition issues. With a strong academic background, Sergei was a Visiting Assistant Professor at Boston College and a Lecturer at Boston University, teaching courses in Antitrust Policy and Industrial Organization. They also worked as an Economist at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, leading research on the U.S. residential mortgage market. Sergei earned a Ph.D. in Economics from Columbia University and holds degrees from Новая Экономическая Школа and Lomonosov Moscow State University.
