Shan Dou

Shan Dou, Ph.D., is an accomplished applied scientist with extensive experience in machine learning and data science across various sectors. Currently employed at Amazon as an Applied Scientist since June 2025, Shan previously held positions as an AI Engineer at WorkSafeBC and a Staff Machine Learning Engineer at Clio, where significant contributions included leading the development of document analysis features and multi-agent architectures. At Loblaw Digital, Shan advanced dense-vector semantic search capabilities and initiated novel product enhancements utilizing multi-modal LLMs. Experience also encompasses a Senior Data Scientist role at Visier Inc., where innovations in geolocation text normalization and workforce analytics were implemented, as well as impactful projects at Teck Resources, Liminal, and Berkeley Lab, all underscoring a robust foundation in optimization algorithms and scientific research.
