Shermin Pei

Shermin Pei is a highly experienced applied scientist with a strong background in natural language understanding and bioinformatics. During five years at Amazon, Pei served as an Applied Scientist II and a Research Scientist II for Alexa AI, focusing on building and deploying production models, enhancing model accuracy, and improving customer metrics. Prior to Amazon, Pei worked as a Bioinformatics Scientist at KEW, Inc., developing applications to support clinical data analysis and biomarker detection, and participated in research to improve treatment recommendations. Pei also completed a fellowship at Insight Data Science, where automated coding models were developed from medical notes. Academic achievements include a PhD in Computational Biology from Boston College and a Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry from the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
