Topher McFarland

Topher McFarland is a Principal Controls Drone Research Scientist at Amazon Prime Air, where they focus on developing customer-centered performance improvements for drone delivery systems. With over a decade of experience at Amazon, Topher has previously held the position of Senior Research Scientist and led teams in creating advanced control systems for drones. Topher completed a PhD in Mechanical Engineering at Johns Hopkins University, where their dissertation examined adaptive identification and control for underwater vehicles. They also have post-doctoral experience in developing navigation algorithms for unmanned underwater vehicles at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution and have contributed to key robotics projects at the Idaho National Laboratory and Anadarko Petroleum Corporation.
