Vamsi Salaka

Vamsi Salaka has extensive experience in search technology, particularly within major tech companies. From June 2016 to May 2023, Vamsi served as the Head of Visual and Multimodal Search at Amazon, leading initiatives such as Amazon Lens and More Like This. Previously, Vamsi was a Senior Manager of Search Ranking, overseeing a team focused on developing deep learning and machine learning models to enhance the search ranking experience. Earlier experience includes roles at eBay, where Vamsi led the search spam team and focused on query optimization as a Senior Applied Scientist. Vamsi's career began as a Software Engineer at Ariba, working on algorithms for spend analysis, and includes a PhD in Machine Learning from Penn State University, coupled with a Bachelor of Technology from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University.
