Shawn Douglass began their professional career in 1996 as a Submersible Pilot at Voyager Submersibles. In 1997, they moved to Digital Island as a Systems/Network Operations Engineer. In 1999, they joined Loudcloud as an Automated Operations Architect - Systems Engineering. In 2001, they became a Managing Director at EMC Ventures, where they were responsible for managing all operating aspects of EMC's strategic investment portfolio. In 2005, they joined the Board of Directors and became Chairman of the Technical Steering Committee at the Enterprise Grid Alliance (EGA). In 2013, they became a Technology Partner at Rally Ventures and Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at ServiceMesh. In 2014, they became President Software / CTO at Unified, which was later acquired by IHeart Media. In 2015, they became a Board Member: Outside Director at Clustrix, Inc., which was later acquired by MariaDB. In 2017, they became the CEO at Amberdata.

Shawn Douglass attended Harvard Business School from 2009 to 2010, where they obtained a GMP. Prior to that, they attended the University of California, Berkeley, Haas School of Business and completed their Venture Capital Program in 2008. In 2004, they completed the Sustaining High Performance program at Babson College. Shawn also holds certifications in GDPR for Security Professionals (obtained in March 2020 from (ISC)\u00b2), CISSP (obtained in November 2016 from (ISC)\u00b2), and Certified ScrumMaster (from Scrum Alliance).
