Ruth Baxter

Senior Laboratory Director at Ambry

Ruth Baxter has a diverse background in the field of genetics, with over 25 years of experience in various research and laboratory roles. Ruth began their career as a Postdoc at the Schepens Eye Research Institute in 1996, where they focused on research related to eye diseases. In 1997, they moved to the Massachusetts General Hospital as a Postdoc, continuing their research in the field. In 2001, Ruth joined Biogen Idec as a Scientist II, where they worked until 2005. During this time, they contributed to various scientific projects. In 2005, they transitioned to a role as an Assistant Researcher at UCLA, where they continued their work in genetics. Ruth then moved to Synedgen in 2008, where they served as a Senior Cell Biologist until 2011. In 2011, Ruth joined UCLA again, this time as a Research Fellow and Molecular Genetics Trainee. Their most recent position is at Ambry Genetics, where they started in 2013 as an Assistant Laboratory Director. In July 2021, they were promoted to the role of Senior Laboratory Director, which they currently hold.

Ruth Baxter completed their BSc in Physiology at Newcastle University from 1989 to 1992. Ruth then pursued a PhD in Biochemistry at the University of Dundee from 1992 to 1995.
