Patrick E. Smith Sr. is currently the Chairman and President of Ameren Illinois, where they oversee energy delivery to over 1.2 million electric and more than 800,000 natural gas customers across a wide area. With over 40 years of experience at Ameren, Smith has held various leadership roles, including Senior Vice President of Operations and Technical Services and Vice President of Economic, Community, and Business Development for Ameren Missouri. Smith began their career with Union Electric as a meter reader and later completed a journey Lineworker apprenticeship. They hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial and Organizational Psychology and an Executive MBA from Washington University, and are actively involved in community initiatives, including youth sports and the United Way.
