Chip Bunker has extensive work experience in various technology and leadership roles. Chip started their career as a Network Communications Analyst at McDonnell Douglas Automation Company in 1980. Chip then moved on to Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory as a Systems Programming Manager. In 1985, they joined Network Systems Corporation as a Regional Systems Engineering Manager, where they consistently excelled in sales and service.
In 1988, Chip began their tenure at PaineWebber, initially serving as Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Architect, where they established a solutions architecture function and governance processes. Chip later became the Senior Vice President and Head of IT Infrastructure, leading the rebuilding of the entire unit and realigning the mission to a product-centric delivery model.
Joining UBS in 2003, Chip held the position of Managing Director for both the Wealth Management U.S. Account Management and Global Connectivity Services | Head of Infrastructure Architecture. Chip unified the newly created global infrastructure function and managed a workforce of 5,400 personnel with a $2.3B shared service budget.
From 2009 to 2013, Chip worked at MetLife as a Vice President and Chief Enterprise Architect, where they resized and retargeted strategic IT goals. Chip also updated the architecture governance process and consolidated awareness of emerging technologies.
At RBC from 2013 to 2016, Chip served as Vice President and Head of Enterprise Architecture. Chip aligned enterprise technology strategies with business goals and provided advice on strategic direction and operational decisions.
Chip joined Guardian Life in 2017 as the Head of Product & Claim Technology, leading the delivery of digital solutions and overseeing the Group Benefits Platform Transformation initiative.
Currently, Chip is the Head of Information & Technology Services at American Equity, where they continue to leverage their skills in information technology to drive success in the organization.
Chip Bunker attended Purdue University from 1975 to 1979, where they studied Electrical Engineering. Chip did not obtain a degree during this time. In 2011, they obtained a certification in IT Leadership Development Program from The Cash Catalyst institution.
