The American Paramedic Association (APA) is the legislative and regulatory advocacy arm of the American College of Paramedics (ACP) — the national professional college for paramedics in the United States. ACP is a program of The Paramedic Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit charitable organization incorporated in Minnesota.
APA engages federal and state policymakers, regulatory bodies, and health system stakeholders on behalf of the paramedic profession. Its work spans scope of practice advocacy, workforce policy, reimbursement reform, and professional recognition at the federal and state level.
ACP members are connected to APA's advocacy work through their membership. ACP governs the profession; APA fights for it. They are complementary functions of the same professional infrastructure — the institutional model that every mature clinical profession uses to achieve both self-governance and political influence.
