Gary Turner serves as the Director of Special Initiatives for the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) since 2009, advising the NCCC National Director on program initiatives and liaising with various stakeholders. Turner leads the development of priority programs that support youth from disadvantaged backgrounds, Native American affairs, conservation efforts, and veterans, among others. Previously, Turner held the position of Region Director at AmeriCorps NCCC and Director of Programs at Outward Bound Atlanta, as well as Deputy Director at Hands On Atlanta. Turner earned a Doctor of Law (J.D.) degree from Howard University School of Law between 1979 and 1982.
