Sandy Potter

Sandy Potter, LCSW, MBA has a diverse and extensive work experience.

Starting with their most recent position, Sandy is currently serving as the Vice President of Behavioral Health Strategy and Outcomes at AmeriHealth Caritas since September 2022.

Prior to that, from 2020 to 2022, Sandy worked as an Adjunct Assistant Professor at The University of Texas at Arlington.

From 2018 to 2022, Sandy held the role of Vice President of Behavioral Health Services at Texas Health Resources. In this role, Sandy focused on population health and worked towards integrating behavioral health into healthcare interactions to improve overall well-being. They were responsible for various aspects of behavioral health services, including emergency assessments, inpatient and outpatient units, and implementing telehealth solutions.

Between 2015 and 2018, Sandy served as the DVP of Government Programs Clinical Operations at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois, Montana, New Mexico, Oklahoma & Texas. They led teams to improve member health outcomes and operational performance for government programs, with a focus on Medicaid programs and care coordination.

From 2014 to 2015, Sandy worked at ValueOptions, Inc. as the CEO of Texas NorthSTAR and President of the Texas Market. They were responsible for improving outcomes and performance, ensuring compliance, expanding contracts and markets, and implementing recovery-oriented programs. Sandy successfully reduced pharmacy costs and advocated for expanded funding for mental health services.

Before that, Sandy held various roles at ValueOptions, including SVP National Utilization Management from 2009 to 2014, Vice President of Operations ValueOptions of Texas from 2006 to 2009, and Clinical Director from 2001 to 2006.

Sandy's earlier work experience includes serving as the Clinical Systems Director at Dallas Metrocare Svc from 1997 to 2001, the Dallas Psychiatric Intensive Care - Program Director at Timberlawn Hospital from 1995 to 1997, and as a Probation Officer at Dallas County from 1990 to 1995.

Lastly, Sandy started their career as a Caseworker/Residential Supervisor at COLLIN COUNTY MHMR DBA LIFEPATH from 1985 to 1989.

Sandy Potter, LCSW, MBA, holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Texas Woman's University, a Master of Science in Social Work (MSSW) from The University of Texas at Arlington, and a Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) from Texas Woman's University. Currently, Sandy is pursuing a Postgraduate Certification in Veterinary Social Work from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, which will be completed in 2024. Additionally, in 2022, Sandy obtained a Postgraduate Certification in Psychedelic Assisted Psychotherapy from the INTEGRATIVE PSYCHIATRY INSTITUTE. Furthermore, Sandy holds several licenses and certifications, including Licensed Clinical Social Worker obtained from the New Mexico Regulation & Licensing Department in 2022, Licensed Clinical Social Worker - Supervisor obtained from the Texas Behavioral Health Executive Council - Board of Social Work Examiners in June 2000, and Licensed Sex Offender Treatment Provider - Supervisor obtained from Texas Health and Human Services in September 2000.
