The Stiftung Bayerisches Amerikahaus – Bavarian Center for Transatlantic Relations, known as the Amerikahaus München, promotes the understanding of democracy and exchange on transatlantic issues through its wide range of events and services focusing on the United States of America, Canada, and Latin America. Originally founded under the U.S. government in 1946 after the end of World War Two, it is now an institution of the Free State of Bavaria. The Amerikahaus München provides an open forum for critical dialogue on transatlantic relations – from both sides of the Atlantic – and is the largest institution in Germany dedicated to fostering transatlantic relations.
