Todd Simpson

Todd Simpson has over 25 years of experience in the technology industry, with a focus on strategy, corporate development, and business development. Todd is currently the Director of the Alberta Machine Intelligence Institute, a position they have held since December 2016.

Previously, Simpson was the Chief Strategy Officer at AVG Technologies from January 2014 to December 2016. During their time at AVG, they made significant changes to the company's strategy and acquisitions, leading to the recent acquisition by Avast for $1.3 billion. Todd also acquired multiple companies and managed major portions of the business through the transition.

Prior to their time at AVG, Simpson was the Executive Vice President of Innovation Partners at InterDigital Communications from March 2013 to January 2014. In this role, they were responsible for developing and executing InterDigital's innovation strategy.

Before joining InterDigital, Simpson served as the Chief of Innovation at Mozilla from April 2011 to March 2013. In this role, they oversaw all aspects of Mozilla's innovation efforts, including product development, research, and partnerships.

Simpson began their career as the CTO of Zi Corporation in January 2001. Todd held this position until December 2004 when they left to join InterDigital.

Todd Simpson studied computer science at the University of Calgary, where they earned their PhD and BSc. Honors.
