Michael Sharp has extensive work experience in the field of engineering, mainly focusing on safety systems and control engineering. Michael is currently working as a Lead Functional Safety Engineer at AMOG. Prior to this role, they held positions at Yokogawa as a Lead Safety Systems Engineer, where they managed project schedules, resource requirements, and remote testing for system interfaces. Before that, they worked as a Senior Systems Engineer at Yokogawa, responsible for hardware and software design, developing safety system function block libraries, and creating Safety Validation Plans. Earlier in their career, they were a Senior Instrument and Control Engineer at Engen, designing and implementing modifications to existing safety systems, participating in SIL reviews, and generating technical specifications for DCS Migration projects. Michael also served as an Instrument Engineer at Engen, performing field instrumentation selection and maintenance strategies, managing the Intools database, and working on the Boiler Management System upgrade.
Michael Sharp obtained a BSC in Electronics from the University of KwaZulu-Natal between 2005 and 2008. In 2013, they pursued CFA Level 1 studies. Additionally, they obtained certifications as a Certified Functional Safety Professional (CFSP) from exida in March 2015 and as a Functional Safety Engineer from TÜV Rheinland Group in February 2018.
