Tim Lee has a diverse and extensive work experience that spans over two decades. Tim began their career in 2001 as a Graduate Professional Engineer at the Royal Australian Navy (Navy Systems Command). In 2003, they joined the Department of Defence as a Mechanical Engineer, specializing in submarine manoeuvring and modelling.

Tim Lee attended Monash University from 1996 to 2001, where they obtained a Bachelor of Engineering (BE) in Mechanical Engineering and a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Visual Arts and French. Tim has also obtained several additional certifications, including being a Registered Professional Engineer in Victoria, being registered on the National Engineering Register, being a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Naval Architects, being a L'Ingénieur Européen, being a Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland, being a Chartered Professional Engineer, and being a Chartered Engineer.
