Steve Burnell

Dr. Steve Burnell is currently an advisor at aMoon, a venture capital firm focused on healthcare investments. Prior to joining aMoon, Steve served as Head of Strategy & Business Development at Roche from September 2010 to October 2019. During their time at Roche, Steve was responsible for leading M&A and licensing activity as well as developing corporate strategy.

Before joining Roche, Steve was the Vice President of Strategy & Business Development at Ventana Medical Systems from April 2009 to December 2010. While at Ventana, Steve was a member of the executive management team reporting directly to the CEO/President.

From 2006 to 2009, Steve was the President & CEO of Strategy Engine, Inc., a business strategy consulting company specializing in developing and providing best practice decision support processes, analytic tools, software and expert facilitation. During their time at Strategy Engine, the company was named a Connecticut Technology Council FastTrack company and a 2008 Innovation Pipeline Award company to watch.

From 1998 to 2005, Steve was a Partner at Vantage Point Associates, LLC. And from 1991 to 1996, they served as a PhD / Research Associate at the University of Sydney.

Steve Burnell has a Ph.D. in Population Biology from the University of Sydney, a B.Sc. (Hons.) in Biology from the University of Sydney, and a B.Sc. in Biology/Biological Sciences, General from Flinders University.
