Scott Barnett has an extensive work history, starting in 1997 as a Research Manager at the University of Wollongong. Scott then worked as an Associate at SFC Consulting before joining Andersen as a Senior Manager/ Manager. Barnett later worked at KPMG Consulting/BearingPoint as a Senior Manager. In 2004, they joined Cash Services Australia as a Non-Executive Director. Barnett then joined Westpac Banking Corporation and held various roles, including Head of Cash and ATM Services and Head of Shared Services. Scott continued to progress within Westpac, becoming Head of Operating Model Design before joining AMP. At AMP, Barnett held roles such as Stream Director and Head of Technology for various departments.

Scott Barnett obtained a Diploma in Directorship from the Australian Institute of Company Directors in 2010. Prior to that, they earned a PhD in Telecommunications Engineering from the University of Wollongong from 1994 to 1996. Scott also holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Engineering (Hons I) from the University of Wollongong, which they completed from 1990 to 1993. Scott's secondary education took place at Bulli High School from 1983 to 1989.
