Fred Brown

Software Quality Assurance Test Engineer at Ampex

Fred Brown has worked in the technology industry since 2001. Fred began their career at Ciena as a Consultant/Network Services Engineer IV/Systems Engineer IV, where they implemented complex upgrades of Ciena Equipment on Customer's In-Service networks. Fred also served as Lead Product Verification Engineer, developing test/development/automation of G. 709 OTN, OSRP, Gigabit Ethernet, SONET, SDH, APS, BLSR features for CIENA Active Flex 5430/5410 and Core Director. In 2017, they joined Infinera as a Staff Software QA Engineer - Continous System Integration Development Team, performing manual and automated testing on a Layer 1-3 DWDM optical network switching platform XT3600. Fred also led automation effort to successfully perform regression testing on dual port protection feature set. Currently, Fred Brown is employed at AMPEX Data Systems Corporation as a Software Quality Assurance Test Engineer, where they are responsible for implementing automated test cases in Python/BDD/Linux framework for various network, video, storage file servers in an embedded Linux environment. Fred also develops formal test plans, test cases, formal test report and documenting/reproducing defects, as well as improving product quality (hardware and software) release packages.

Fred Brown's education history includes a Master's degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology, a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from Prairie View A&M University, and a Professional Certificate in a Specialization in Python, System Virtualization, SQL, Linux/Network Administration, and AI for Robotics from the University of California, Santa Cruz. Additionally, Brown has obtained several certifications from LinkedIn and UCSC Silicon Valley Extension, as well as a Scrum Master Certificate (SMC) from the Scrum Alliance.
