Derek Styles

Derek Styles is an accomplished executive with extensive experience in the oil and gas industry, currently serving as Chief Operating Officer of Ampol Trading & Shipping since July 2019, overseeing operations in Singapore and Houston. Previously, Derek held several key positions at Ampol, including General Manager of Group Audit & Risk, where responsibilities included leading internal audit and enterprise risk management, and Interim Executive General Manager of Infrastructure, managing the Lytton manufacturing precinct and distribution portfolio. Prior to joining Ampol, Derek spent nearly eight years at Caltex Australia in various roles such as General Manager of Distribution and Manufacturing. Derek began the career at Shell, progressing through roles including Production Processing Manager and Manufacturing Excellence Manager. Educational credentials include an MBA from Melbourne Business School and a Bachelor of Engineering in Chemical Engineering from Monash University, complemented by ongoing professional development through the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
