John Wang

SVP & General Manager, China at AMSC

John Wang is the Senior Vice President and General Manager of China at AMSC. John has over 20 years of experience in leadership roles in supply chain management and operations.

John started their career at GE in 2001, where they were the Vice General Manager and Supply Chain Director of GE Hydro Asia. John was responsible for company acquisition and restructuring, as well as manufacturing P&L metrics and supply chain cost out initiatives. John led the products localization process and helped establish a state-of-the-art facility with Lean & ERP & Six-sigma approaches.

In 2006, John left GE to join ITT Inc. as the Vice President of Operations for ITT China and GM of ITT Nanking Corporation. John developed a local management team, oversaw the building of a new facility, and drove products localization process. John also focused on supply chain cost out initiatives, which helped reduce the cost of goods sold (COGS) by 15%.

John has been with AMSC since February 2008 and has been instrumental in the company’s success in China. Under their leadership, AMSC has experienced strong growth and is now a leading supplier of wind turbines and other advanced energy solutions in China.

John Wang holds a Master's degree in EMBA from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, a Master's in MBA from Harbin Institute of Technology, and a Bachelor's in Materials Engineering from Jilin University. John is certified by GE in GE Six-Sigma training and certified Green Belt, and by the International Institute of Welding in EU welding engineer.

They are on a team with Victor Donescu - Managing Director, US Engineering, John W. Kosiba - Senior Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer, and Michael P. Richardson - VP, Global Operations. John Wang reports to Daniel McGahn, President, CEO & Chairman.
