John Hasterlo

John Hasterlo, PE, currently serves as the Director of Facilities Engineering-Structures at Amtrak, overseeing an $85 million State of Good Repair (SOGR) program and a $26 million capital plan, with a team of 13 direct reports. Previously, Hasterlo held positions within Union Pacific Railroad, managing substantial capital budgets for mechanical engineering and facility projects, including a $30 million annual budget for key construction and upgrades. Hasterlo's career includes significant roles in environmental operations and mechanical systems design, as well as engineering positions at the State of Nebraska’s Department of Roads involving highway and bridge construction. Hasterlo holds an MBA from Bellevue University and a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
