Stuart Jackson began their career in 1985 as a Materials Scientist at Vickers Shipbuilding and Engineering Ltd. In 1992, they became a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where they conducted research on improving adhesion characteristics of polymer/metal interfaces and diamond like carbon/fluoropolymer interfaces. In 1996, they joined Mayo Clinic Ventures as an Associate, creating start-up and licensing business opportunities around Mayo Clinic research and intellectual property. In 1999, they became the President and CEO of AnalyzeDirect, a medical imaging software company that delivers advanced visualization solutions to the global medical research community. In 2015, they became the CEO of The Sensory Chair Company, a research and development venture that designs deep touch pressure chairs for people with autism and sensory processing disorder.
Stuart Jackson obtained their B.Sc. in Physics from the University of Hull between 1982 and 1985. Stuart then went on to The University of Sheffield to pursue a M.Sc. in Polymer Science, which was completed in 1989. Following that, they earned a Ph.D. in Engineering Materials from The University of Sheffield in 1992. In 1995, they attended the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign to obtain an MBA in Technology Management and Entrepreneurship, which was completed in 1997.
