Steve Benton

Steve Benton, Ph.D., is an experienced data scientist currently at Anthology Inc since 2020, focusing on research involving large data sets related to higher education assessment and contributing to white papers and blogs. Previously, Benton served as Senior Research Officer at IDEA Center from 2008 to 2019, where research on similar data sets and the writing of various technical and research reports were key responsibilities. As Department Chair at Kansas State University's Department of Special Education, Counseling, and Student Affairs from 1983 to 2008, Benton provided leadership, managed administrative functions, and represented the department in strategic planning and accreditation processes. Additionally, as an Emeritus Professor, Benton taught educational psychology and research methods for 25 years, authoring over 100 publications on topics such as student learning, assessment, and cognitive science. Benton holds a PhD in Psychological and Cultural Studies, a Master's in Educational Measurement, and a Bachelor's degree in Secondary Education, all from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
