Russ Bates is a Member of Technical Staff at Anthropic since October 2023. Previously, Russ held multiple roles at DeepMind from July 2018 to October 2023, including Staff Research Engineer, Senior Research Engineer, and Research Engineer. Prior experience includes serving as a Deep Learning Scientist at AIG from September 2017 to July 2018 and as a Doctoral Candidate at the University of Oxford from October 2013 to August 2017, where Russ earned a DPhil in Machine Learning/Computer Vision with a focus on Biomedical Image Analysis. Russ completed an MSci in Mathematics at UCL from 2009 to 2013.
