Alex Sneddon is a Postdoctoral Fellow at The Australian National University, focusing on exploiting the language of the transcriptome for direct RNA sequencing within the fields of computational biology, sequence modelling, neural networks, time series analysis, and biological language modelling. Previously, Alex completed a PhD at The Australian National University and worked as a Software Engineer at the Software Innovation Institute, contributing to automated COVID-19 alerts, as well as at Saluda Medical, developing software for a closed-loop neuromodulation system. Additional experience includes roles as an Academic Tutor in software engineering and programming at the University of Sydney, internships at Google, and research as a Summer Vacation Scholar at CSIRO's Data61, where Alex improved classification accuracy in speech disorder assessment systems. Academic qualifications include a Doctor of Philosophy from The Australian National University and dual bachelor's degrees in Biomedical Engineering (Honours Class I) and Computer Science (Advanced) from the University of Sydney.
