Eduardo Eyras

Eduardo Eyras is a prominent academic and researcher currently serving as the EMBL Australia Group Leader at The Australian National University since March 2019, where notable contributions in RNA biology and cancer research are made. Prior experience includes a brief tenure as a Group Leader at IMIM, focusing on developing computational algorithms for cancer precision medicine, and an extended period at UPF, where responsibilities included group leadership in Computational RNA Biology and teaching bioinformatics. Eyras has also held postdoctoral and software development positions at several prestigious institutions, such as the Centre for Genomic Regulation, Wellcome Sanger Institute, and University of Cambridge. Eyras completed a PhD in Theoretical and Mathematical Physics at the University of Groningen, further solidifying a strong educational foundation in physics and its applications to biological research.
