Gail Higginbottom

Visting Research Fellow

Gail Higginbottom is an accomplished Project Manager and Postdoctoral Researcher at CSIC, specializing in the materiality of cognition with a focus on Neolithic landscapes in Barbanza (Galicia) and Wales since March 2024. Previously, Gail served as a Marie Curie Research Fellow at the Spanish National Research Council - Incipit from 2019 to 2021, working on the SHoW project aimed at revealing prehistoric shared worlds along Europe's Atlantic Façade. With extensive experience in landscape archaeology, cultural astronomy, and prehistory, Gail's contributions are linked to UNESCO's Astronomy and World Heritage Thematic Initiative. As a Cultural Heritage Consultant since 2008, Gail has advised on national and international cultural heritage agendas and managed detailed audits of cultural heritage databases. Gail has held various academic roles, including Visiting Research Fellow and Lecturer at several Australian universities, following the completion of a PhD in Archaeology and a Bachelor of Arts with majors in Classical Studies, Ancient Greek History, and Psychology from the University of Adelaide, along with a Masters Qualifying in Physics, Classics, and History.
