James Popple currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the Law Council of Australia, where responsibilities include advocating for the legal profession and enhancing the justice system. In addition, James is a Fellow at the Australian Academy of Law and holds various honorary and teaching roles at The Australian National University since 1995. Past leadership roles include Official Secretary (CEO) for the Royal Commissions into Defence and Veteran Suicide and Aged Care Quality and Safety, as well as membership on the ACT Remuneration Tribunal and the Anti-Dumping Review Panel. James has also held positions as Senior Member at the Administrative Appeals Tribunal and Freedom of Information Commissioner with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner. Educational qualifications include a Doctor of Philosophy in computer science and law and two bachelor's degrees in laws and arts from The Australian National University.
