Michael Tong is a Senior Research Fellow at The Australian National University, focusing on climate change risk assessments related to health. With extensive experience in public health, Michael has led projects on topics such as climate change impacts on health services, smoking, air quality, and urban heat effects. Previously, Michael held positions as a Research Fellow and Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Adelaide, contributing to studies on healthcare costs associated with heatwaves and the burden of disease linked to climate change. Currently, Michael also serves as the Leader for the Health Cluster at the ANU Institute for Climate, Energy & Disaster Solutions, while teaching courses related to global and environmental health and biostatistics. Michael holds a Doctor of Philosophy degree from the University of Adelaide.
