Paul Hubbard

Paul Hubbard is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in policy development and analysis. Currently serving as Assistant Secretary at the Australian Government Department of Finance since July 2022, Paul also holds a position as a Visiting Fellow at The Australian National University. Past roles include A/g Deputy Head of the Simplified Trade System Implementation Taskforce at Austrade, Australian Delegate to the Regulatory Policy Committee at OECD, and Assistant Secretary for the Deregulation Taskforce at the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet. Paul’s academic background includes a PhD in Economics from The Australian National University, as well as degrees in International Relations, Economics, and Law. Paul has been actively engaged in international economic collaboration, notably through contributions to the Australia China Joint Economic Report and participation as a Visiting Scholar at Peking University.
