Penelope Burns

Penelope Burns is an experienced Disaster and Emergency Consultant at Sydney North Health Network since 2022, while also serving as a Clinical Associate Professor at The Australian National University since 2013. Penelope's extensive involvement in disaster health management includes positions as Chair of the NSW & ACT General Practice Disaster Management Committee and a General Practitioner since 1988. As Co-Chair of the WADEM Primary Care Special Interest Group since January 2020, Penelope contributes to global discussions on disaster medicine. Educational qualifications include a PhD in Medicine from The Australian National University, a Master of Public Health and Tropical Medicine from James Cook University, and a Bachelor of Medicine from the University of Newcastle. Additional roles include Conjoint Senior Lecturer at Western Sydney University and representation on various committees related to disaster and immunisation efforts.
