Simon Foote

Emeritus Professor

Simon Foote is an accomplished academic and researcher with extensive experience in the field of medicine and genetics. Currently serving as Emeritus Professor and Director of the John Curtin School of Medical Research at The Australian National University since October 2014, Simon has held significant leadership roles including Dean of the Australian School of Advanced Medicine at Macquarie University and Director of the Menzies Research Institute at the University of Tasmania. Prior experience includes a position as Joint-Head of the Genetic and Bioinformatics Division at the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research, and earlier roles as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Whitehead Institute. Simon began his medical career with an internship at The Royal Melbourne Hospital & NorthWestern Mental Health. Educational qualifications include a Bachelor of Medical Science, MBBS, and PhD in Molecular Genetics from the University of Melbourne, along with a Doctor of Science in Genetics from the University of Tasmania.
