Sonia Palmieri

Sonia Palmieri is an Associate Professor at The Australian National University since October 2019, specializing in research and coordination on gender issues in the Pacific. Additionally, Sonia has worked as a consultant and researcher since October 2015, focusing on women's political empowerment and leadership for notable international organizations such as the Inter-Parliamentary Union, OECD, and UN Women, among others. Previous experience includes serving as a Policy Specialist on Political Participation at UN Women and project management roles at the Parliament of Australia and various international organizations, where Sonia contributed to enhancing women's political participation. Sonia holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Gender and Parliament from The University of Queensland, completed in 2002.
