Will Bateman

Professor

Will Bateman is a Professor at The Australian National University, leading research on the legal regulation of public and private finance with a focus on central banking, sovereign debt, fiscal policy, and sustainable investing. Previously, Bateman served as Associate Dean (Research) at ANU Law, overseeing research activities and externally-funded projects. Experience includes work as a Judicial Associate to the Hon Justice Stephen Gageler at the High Court of Australia, and as a Judicial Associate at the Federal Court of Australia, assisting in significant legal proceedings. Prior legal practice at Herbert Smith Freehills involved advising in complex commercial disputes and international litigation. Bateman holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Public Finance and Constitutional Law and a Master of Laws in International Law from the University of Cambridge.
