May Tai is an independent arbitrator and arbitration lawyer with extensive experience, having served as sole, co-, and presiding arbitrator in over 20 arbitrations under the HKIAC, ICC, SIAC, and CIETAC. Until 2023, May was a partner at Herbert Smith Freehills, where they held the positions of China Managing Partner from 2017 to 2020 and Asia Managing Partner from 2020 to 2023, leading significant expansion in China and South-East Asia. Currently, May is a Consultant to Herbert Smith Freehills, represents clients in arbitration matters, and serves as a Non-Executive Independent Director on the Board of ANZ Bank (China) as well as Vice President of the ICC Court of Arbitration and a Conciliator for ICSID. May's education includes attending the University of Oxford and the Oxford Institute of Legal Practice.
