Brian Murtagh

Umbrella/ Excess Casualty Practice Leader

Brian Murtagh is an experienced professional with a strong background in environmental consulting and insurance. Starting as State Geologist in the Oil Control Division at the Maryland Department of the Environment, Murtagh progressed through various roles, including Project Manager at Camp, Dresser and McKee, Inc. and Project Geologist for the Long Island Rail Road East Side Access Project. Murtagh held multiple positions at AIG, including Product Line Consultant, Environmental Consultant, and New York Regional Manager for the Global Marine and Energy Excess Casualty division. In a leadership capacity, Murtagh served as Managing Director at Marsh, overseeing Excess Casualty Placement for major multinational accounts. Currently, Murtagh is the Umbrella/Excess Casualty Practice Leader and Eastern Region Team Leader at Aon. Educational credentials include an MS in Hydrogeology from the State University of New York at Stony Brook and a degree in Geology and European History from Washington and Lee University.
